There are not very many places open late in Florence. This bakery is an exception; it is open until about 4 o clock in the morning, unheard ofly late for italy.
Florence's Duomo, or main cathedral by night...You can see Giotto's tower right beside the Duomo...
In America we string communists by their egalitarian thumbs, in Italy, they vote them into office...The recent election on sunday the 13th of May resulted int eh Election Bellisconi, not a communist, but perhaps a bit of a facist. He is the Italin equivilent of Ted Turner, owning 4 of Italy's six or seven television stations...
So what does the sign say? "The Left that figths and governs. vote for the Italain Communists with the olive (l'ulivo) party."
A Florentine Sunset, taking from the window of my school. This scan does not do the picture justice, the Pinks are wonderful in the real thing.
The Portico of Santissima Annunziata by Fillipo Brunelleschi was the first reniesance (I know I am spelling that wrong) building. It was built in 1419 and is based on classical archtiecture with a strong mathamatical basis. I walk by it once or twice a day to and from school.
Basilica San Lorenzo, the Medici Family church is located about a minute's walk from my house. Next to the basillica is San Lorenzo's famous leather market, where toursest can buy 100% reall crap for a low price. San Lorenzo is one of the few churches in Florence without a decorative facade. The horizontal lines on the front are there to recieve a facade, but the facade planned by Michelangelo (1436) was never installed (it was a very beautiful facade, however, I really liek the rough stone face as it is today).
Same place as above, but the sky is not a pretty. On nice days, as you can see, people sit on the stairs and watch teh world go by.
Because I am a guest in this country, it would be incredably impolite of me to say that the multi-colored Invicta bags these two guys are wearing a ugly...One migth thing that only small children might have such ugly bags (if one were to say taht these bags were ugly), but that would be incorrect, these guys, I would estimate were about 20 years old. These backpacks seem to be the only ugly pieces of clothing in this country, everyone is always very well dressed...
you can see the zipper of my jacket in the top left corner of teh pciture. I used the jacket to hide the camera as a snapped the picture...The picture was taken in Florence's main train station, San Maria Novella Station.
THis picture was taken a few moments after the previous one, as I walked home from teh train station after visiting my relatives in Pisa. I have no idea who this guy is, other than some random tourist eating an ice cream cone with the Church Santa Maria Novella in the background. I just snaped this picture was we passed, I think it turned out pretty well.
Looking up at the tower of Florence's Medieval City hall, called Palazzo Vechio (literally, old palace). Palazzo Vechio is located in Piazza Signoria.
