More Florence More of Florence, Italy

Amsterdam:
I was only able to get off one picture before I left the whole country. Actually, this picture was taken from a moving train...I landed in Amsterdam, hoping to wander my way down to Florence. However, I was unable to book a room, as I had arrived in the middle of a major celebration. There were hundreds of boats in town for the Dutch equvilent of "Fleet week". In this picture, alone, I counted the masts of atleat 9 ships....This was the first photograph I took in Europe...

I went to Arrezo, a small city about 1 hour south of Florence one weekend, in the hopes of finding a castle. I did not find a castle, but I did happen upon wedding: The small red car, at the time that this was taken, probably had about an inch of rich on the inside. Here in Italy, they apparently throw rice at weddings, just like Americans. The young kids had rice too, and when it came time to stop throwing rice, and they still had rice, they would run up to the car and dump a handful into the car. At that point one of the adults would yell "Basta!", though the children did not heed, and made trip after trip, dumping more and more rice into the car.

While in Arezzo, I also Leonardo Da Vinci's Madonna and the Spindles...

The view from The dome of Florence's Catherdal. The view is of Palazzo Vecchio (The big brown building with the tower) and the Uffizzi, immediately behind it, in that narrow corridor. Palazzo Vecchio was the old city hall and the Uffizzi were the adminstrative offices. Today the Uffizzi is widely regard as the second greatest museum in the world...

Frescos from the interior of Florence's Cathedral. The frescos are very large. there is a light at the bottom of teh picture, the light is a little smaller the the head of a man. The frescos depict scences from ehaven and hell.

Me at San Minato al Monte. THis was within the first week, week and a half I was in Florence...I live right next to the smaller red dome in the background...

Paul and Brenden at the top of the Dome. We had an incredible view.
